ONTARIO - An alert motorist is being credited with two arrests that led to impaired driving charges this weekend.
The woman first called police after seeing a car speeding along Elgin Street North, near Franklin Boulevard, just after midnight Saturday. The driver was travelling without headlights and had hit several curbs.
Police pulled the car over and a 24-year-old Cambridge man was charged with impaired and dangerous driving.
The same woman called police again a few moments later when she noticed another car going through a red light on Franklin Boulevard at Clyde Road. The car had a flat tire.
Police again arrived and arrested a 23-year-old Cambridge woman and charged her with impaired operation of a vehicle.
Here's a thought -- If people who choose to drink and drive knew that they would be "called in" EVERY time they were spotted weaving along our roadways, I wonder what kind of decrease we would see in our fatality rate? My sincere thanks to this woman for taking the time to do the right thing, as all of us should, to keep our roads safe. - editor
